                                                                                                                William Shakespeare

After successfully reviving two golden musicals of Marathi theatre, Nipun Dharmadhikari is back with ‘Never Mind’, a play about an urban couple who cannot express their love to each other. The play attempts to explain the complex subject of love with elements of fun.

Ninaad Bhagwat (Amey Wagh), an Mba, meets Smita Joshi (Spruha Joshi), a creative director, to discuss an advertising strategy for his company’s beauty product. Siddharth Menon and Sharwari Patankar are their ‘minds’ (or brains) who influence their actions. The boy believes in practicality, draws management inspirations from cricket and is proud of his achievements while the girl is artistic, loves animals and (strangely) compares her lifestyle to them. There is nothing common between them. Yet cupid strikes. But misunderstanding gets the better of it. Will they ever confess their love? For the answer watch the play.

The mind is a place without barriers to thought. The play depicts the extremities to which it can go and simple things that it fails to understand. Menon and Patankar portray this structure beautifully on stage. Amey and Spruha share an excellent rapport. The acting is natural.

Nipun has directed this play brilliantly. It reminds you of Basu Chatterji’s films which were simple and lively. (You’ll love the scene where the two minds meet and adore the combination of lights used by Sheetal Talpade) The background score by Gandhaar is excellent. Sayalee Phatak and Iravati Karnik get full marks for costume selection and set design respectively.

I’m going with four and a half out of five stars and two big thumbs up for Nipun Dharmadhikari’s ‘Never Mind’. I’m sure you’ll have your penny’s worth. Come... Let’s fall in love!!!
