Director – Sean Anders
Cast – Jason Bateman, Charlie
Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Chris Pine, Christoph Waltz
and Kevin Spacey
Horrible
Bosses 2 has its moments but isn’t as funny as compared to its prequel. Nonetheless,
the sequel to the 2011 film carries some ‘outrageously racist’ yet hilarious jokes
which will serve your purpose of fun filled weekend; provided you have the
ability to digest them.
After
quitting their jobs Nick (Bateman), Kurt (Sudeikis) and Dale (Day) have become partners
and have set up a manufacturing venture. A high profile business tycoon Burt
Henson (Waltz) gives them an order of their lifetime. However, he double
crosses them when the goods are ready for delivery. Fearing a life of bankruptcy
the friends decide to kidnap Burt’s son Rex (Pine) to teach him a lesson.
The
film has a very tiny focus on an employer-employee relationship, unlike its
prequel. Previously, the guys take a risk out of torture. Here, they resort to
crime for the sake of it. They are shown as foolish entrepreneurs right from
the beginning (which is impractical and difficult to believe).
The
leads are not up to the mark in their acting. It is the supports which steal
the show. Dr Julia Harris (Aniston) hasn’t yet been able to cure her sex
addiction, Harken (Spacey) is in prison (his interaction with the friends is a
laugh riot) and Dean ‘Motherfucker’ Jones (Foxx) is back to doing what he does
best. Chris Pine is wasted.
You
must note that Sean Anders is the same director who co-wrote ‘Dumb and Dumber
To’ which is one of the worst films of the year. If there is another sequel to
this film then it will be similar to the ‘Hangover Series’; which became boring
after the second film.
I
am going with three out of five stars for Horrible Bosses 2. Sit back and
enjoy!!
